Matthew Nelson (b. 1967), the 'Godfather of Rave', key figure in developing early UK rave, jungle and happy hardcore; launched the influential SMD (Slip Matt's Dubs) series in 1993 and founded Universal Records in 1995.

Spinback
Spinback is the alias of Paul Smith, a jungle/drum & bass producer and DJ working in the scene since 1992. In 1993 he co-founded Legend Records with Simon Matthews (DJ Gwange) and Jason Greenhalgh (Q Project) — a label that helped define the mid-90s 'intelligent jungle' sound (deep, rolling breaks with ethereal pads). When Matthews left in 1995 amid financial pressure, Smith and Greenhalgh closed Legend and founded C.I.A. Records; Smith and Greenhalgh also record together as Total Science.

DJ SS (Leroy Small, b. 27 August 1970, Leicester), British jungle/drum and bass DJ-producer, originally 'Scratchenstein' from a hip hop/scratching background; co-founded Formation Records (30+ sub-labels) and released 1995 classic 'The Lighter'.
