Scorpio
DJ Scorpio, UK hardcore techno DJ who performed at Club Kinetic (1996) and Helter Skelter Zoom (1995); distinct from the 'Scorpio' alias used separately by DJ Die and Roni Size for their Bristol jungle/D&B project.
Scott Brown
Scott Alexander Brown (born 28 December 1972, Glasgow) is a Scottish DJ/producer, now based in Huddersfield, most associated with bouncy techno but also working across happy hardcore, hard trance and gabber. While studying physics in Glasgow he formed the techno group Q-Tex in 1991 (debut live set that March), and was central to bringing harder-edged Belgian/Dutch techno influences into the UK's early-90s hardcore scene, later exporting Scottish sounds to Europe. He founded the Evolution Records label family in 1994, pivotal in popularising bouncy techno worldwide, and in 2003 became the first DJ in hardcore history to win 'Best DJ' at the Hardcore Heaven awards.
Scotty
Scotty Boy
Scotty Boy (Scott Schroer) is a Los Angeles-based house DJ/producer with over 25 years in the scene, a longtime Las Vegas resident DJ since the early 2000s. He scored three #1 Billboard Dance hits — 'Shiny Disco Balls' (2014), 'You're Not Alone' (2017) and 'Shine Your Love' (2018) — and from 2016 shifted toward Deep/Jackin' House and Nu Disco/Future House remakes. He also runs LA's 'Deep House Brunch DTLA' party and started DJing at age 14. (Note: this appears to be a US house DJ rather than a UK rave-scene artist.)
Seduction
DJ Seduction (John Kalkan), started 1989 at The Dungeons/Crowland Road and on pirate station Sunrise FM; UK charting hit 'Hardcore Heaven' (1991, ffrr); founded Impact Records and co-created the Hardcore Heaven and United Dance events.
Sharkey
DJ Sharkey (Jonathan Kneath, b. 25 July 1974, Plymouth), started as an MC at 1993 hardcore raves; with Hixxy released 'Toytown' (1995) and launched React's Bonkers compilation series; later coined and pioneered the 'freeform' hardcore genre with Kevin Energy.
Shocka
DJ Shocka started DJing at 15 in a friend's bedroom before playing across the South West UK, known for playing especially heavy tracks. He has held a weekly slot on ukbassradio.com with The HardHittaz Crew, appeared regularly on Impulse Radio, and is affiliated with Neutronic Beats, Dubplate Mafia Recordings, LayLow Recordings and Suspect Militia. (Note: distinct from the unrelated London grime/hip-hop artist and mental health advocate also known as Shocka, Kenneth Erhahon.)
Si Thompson
Si Thompson is a multi-genre UK producer and studio engineer specialising in happy hardcore, jungle and old-skool styles, active with releases on Bandcamp through the 2020s. He launched his own label, Kool Katz Digital, on 17 May 2019.
Sidewinder
Slam
Slam is the Scottish DJ/production duo Stuart McMillan (born 1966, Glasgow) and Orde Meikle (born 1964, Oxford), childhood friends who began DJing together in the late 1980s, first residency at Glasgow's Fury Murrys ('Black Market' night). They took their name from Phuture's acid house track 'Slam', released their debut 'Eterna' in 1991, and broke through with 1993's 'Positive Education' on Soma Quality Recordings the label they co-founded that same year with Dave Clarke and Glenn Gibbons. Straddling house and techno, they remain key figures in post-rave European dance music, marking 35 years together with a sold-out Glasgow show.
