DJ Trace (Duncan Hutchison) is a British drum & bass DJ/producer central to the birth of techstep, drawn into the scene in the late 1980s at London's Heaven nightclub under the influence of Fabio and Grooverider; his first release was the 'Inception' EP on Orbital Records. His 1995 remix of T Power's 'Mutant Jazz' ('The Mutant Remix') became a seminal techstep track, and he was a founding member of the influential techstep label No U-Turn. He later founded the labels DSCI4 and 117 Records, giving early releases to Black Sun Empire, Mindscape, Chris.SU, Task Horizon, Silent Witness and NC-17 among others; he is British but now lives in the USA.
